how it works
My celebrant services vary slightly depending on whether I am a celebrant for a wedding, vow renewal, funeral, celebration of life, baby naming or other rites of passage.
Here's an overview of how my celebrancy services work and what my celebrant services include!
- After your initial enquiry, I will usually arrange to have a chat with you over the phone or on a video call to find out a bit more about what you need and what you are looking for. It will give you a chance to get a sense of who I am and how I work and whether you feel I might be the right celebrant for you.
- We will meet up in person so that I can get to know more about you and your ideas for your special occasion. This is usually an indepth meeting to really get to know you, your story, your ideas for your celebration and to explore all the different elements of the day. If it isn't possible to meet in person, we can schedule a video call on What's App or Zoom.
- I may ask you to complete a questionnaire so that I can gather more information.
- Plan the format of your ceremony to ensure that it flows smoothly.
- Craft and create the ceremony script, which can be edited and improved upon until it's perfect.
- Discuss and incorporate any rituals, symbolism, readings, songs, etc that you would like to include.
- Ongoing contact by phone, email or What's App in the time leading up to the ceremony.
- I may want to chat with other people involved in your ceremony, such as readers, guide parents, wedding planners, photographers and performers etc, to make sure it all fits together.
- We may meet again nearer the date, especially if it is for a wedding or vow renewal, to talk and walk through the final details. I will do everything I can to ensure that everything is just right!
- Help with writing your vows or promises to each other if needed.
- I will deliver your ceremony on the day and if you like, give you a commemorative copy of your ceremony script as a keepsake.
- Provide tissues and some calming breathing exercises to calm your nerves on the day.
As you can see, being a celebrant involves a little bit more than saying a few words at your ceremony!
